Ekwo is free, open source accounting software. Its Sri Lanka pack carries the chart of accounts (Sri Lanka reference chart of accounts, 155 accounts), 4 tax rates in LKR, the periodic return (VAT return (RAMIS e-Services) and its schedules 01 to 07, 13 boxes), and the financial statements (Statement of financial position, Statement of profit or loss). Last checked on 2026-10-10 against 16 texts of law and official sources.

What the pack carries
- Charts of accountsWhat a company installs, and who each chart is published for.
default(default) — 155 accounts, for companies
- TaxesHow many the pack carries, at which distinct rates, and which treatments it can express.
- 13 taxes at rates of 0, 15, 18, 20.5
domestic, exempt, export, import - Periodic declarationThe form the accounts are read into, the cadences it is filed on, and how many boxes it has.
LK-VAT— 13 boxes, filed month or quarter
- When it is dueA rule of the country, not a date. A pack that cannot state its rule states nothing.
- the last day of the month after the period
- The file it is deposited asThe brick of packages/formats that writes it, where one exists.
- filed by hand on the administration’s portal
- Electronic invoicingThe profile the country imposes, the day it starts, and the text that imposes it.
- no profile — no obligation in law
No Sri Lankan text obliges a business to exchange a structured electronic invoice with another business in the sense Ekwo's vocabulary gives the word — there is no Peppol authority, no published profile and no ISO 6523 scheme a party is addressed by — so `profile`, `party_scheme` and `vat_scheme` are null and `obligation` is `none`. What Sri Lanka has is a reporting system in the course of being built: the National e-Invoicing System announced under the National Budget 2026, whose Web API sends the invoice data of a taxpayer's ERP to RAMIS in real time (Notice SEC/PN/VAT/2026-03 of 4 May 2026). It is a pilot, on the board for export-oriented enterprises as phase 1 and for every VAT-registered person as phase 2, with the full integration expected by the end of 2026, and it transmits the data of Schedules 01, 04 and 07; the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act No. 14 of 2026 adds the use of secured point-of-sale machines within three months of a date still to be prescribed (Notice SEC/PN/VAT/2026-03 of 3 July 2026, item 9). Neither is in force against every taxpayer at the date of this pack, and neither is a peer-to-peer exchange between two access points. The paper-or-PDF Tax Invoice itself is regulated by Gazette No. 2481/22, postponed to 1 October 2026 by Gazette No. 2500/106 and so in force today. Ekwo does not connect to RAMIS, and the gap is recorded in docs/international.md and in this pack's README.
